Dr. Margaret Matinga works on modern cleaner energy access, transitions, and gender mainstreaming, focusing on research, policy analysis, project and programme development. She has experience working across Africa and Asia as well as on global issues. She has also worked on estate workers’ welfare and power relations in settings in Malawi. She has an excellent background in power relations, socio-cultural aspects of technology adoption, and how these affect what technological solutions are deemed acceptable to promote or adopt. Dr Matinga has delivered projects for clients such as the AfDB, UNDP, UNECA, the World Bank, the EU, the NDF, EEP, various international NGOs, and lectured at the University of Twente in the Netherlands. She has a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Malawi, an MSc Eng in Energy Studies from the University of Cape Town and a PhD from the University of Twente.
