Prof. Yi LIu

Prof. Yi Liu is deputy director of the Sichuan Energy Internet Research Institute at Tsinghua University.
He received Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in electrical engineering from Tsinghua University in 2003 and 2006 respectively, and Dual Bachelor’s Degree of Economics from Peking University in 2006. Since 2008, Yi Liu has been working on smart grids, and his research interests are in energy internet planning, and flexible energy resource planning, control and optimization. He has participated in several key smart grid projects for State Grid Corporation of China and China Southern Power Grid Company Limited. He participated in various efforts related to energy Internet in 2014 and in early 2015, and he took part in the establishment of the Sichuan Energy Internet Research Institute at Tsinghua University, and has served as the deputy director since.
Yi Liu has headed and participated in 12 research projects of Internet + smart energy organised by the National Energy Administration, and he was primarily responsible for the business model research. Furthermore, he contributed to the promotion of "Internet + smart energy" (energy Internet) guidance opinions approved by National Energy Administration.
Yi Liu has also led the "Tianfu New District Energy Internet Demonstration Project" and a sub-project of "Zhuhai Energy Internet + Smart Energy Demonstration Project".
Besides scientific and technological research and development, he is also responsible for the technology commercialisation of our institute.
